Early Settlement
Ethiopia was known to be founded in the 10th century BC, but the first documentation of a kingdom in Ethiopia was Aksum kingdom. Aksum kingdom was believed to be founded in the 2nd century BC making Ethiopia the oldest independent country in all of Africa and the most ancient in the world. The Aksum kingdom controlled much of the coast of the Red Sea and had link to the Mediterranean forces. In 500 BC, South Arabians settled in North Ethiopia and supported themselves by trading.
